What Every Target of Workplace Bullying Needs to Know

Christian Movie

by Whitney
(Lubbock, TX)

I used to wait tables at a little cafe. When "The Passion of the Christ" came out, a female customer badgered me one whole afternoon to see the movie. It was going to "save" me. I needed to see it right away. Drop everything, leave my shift. Finally, I stifled her by informing her that I had already read the book. No movie is ever better than the book.

I respect your view about the bullying but agree with the reply already posted.

This is not bullying, at least not at this stage. It seems to be to be person who is passionate about her religion and wanting to share it with you. If you don't want to go, just tell her that you appreciate the invitation but decline. If she then persists and badgers you, speak to management.

All the best.

Hi there,

I am not sure if I can call it true bullying quite at this stage. I don't want to upset you.

However, if this woman was to come back time-and-time again, repeatedly over a given period and carried on badgering you, then yes, it would be seen as bullying.

Bullying as you may know, is an on-going harassment campaign using methods designed to wear a person down or even destroy them, and this can go on for many years, or in some cases indefinitely, until the victim is either forced to leave their job or move away from the area to escape the bullying.

I sincerely hope this woman does not come back again. If she does I would have a word with your management about what can be done.

I wish you all the best and that you continue to enjoy your job.
