What Every Target of Workplace Bullying Needs to Know

Ulcer At 11 From Bullying To Dedicating My Life To Help Others

by Robert Turley
(Medford, New Jersey)

My name is Robert, and I am extremely passionate about teaching kids and adults on how to defend themselves against BULLYING. And this is why... let me introduce you to my BULLY, TOM.

When I was 11 years old, and in the 5th grade, I had an older kid cut in front of me in the water fountain line. I didn’t say anything, but a teacher saw him do it and scolded him in front of everyone.

That is when my nightmare started.

See, my bully Tom blamed me. And for the whole school year, he terrorized me in the hallways, kicked me off my bike on my ride home from school, punched me in the gut, and got his friends to do the same.

See, I never told anyone about this. Not my parents, not my older brothers, not anyone. I didn’t tell anyone for fear of admitting I didn’t know how to protect myself.

The only reason why the bullying stopped was because Tom and his friends went to a different school after the year was over. But the damage they caused me emotionally, physically and mentally was devastating. Imagine being 11 and ending up in the hospital with an ulcer.

All of this due to bullying!!!

For the last 30 years, I have trained in the art of self defense and have dedicated my life to teaching kids, teens, and adults how to defend themselves from all aspects of bullying.

It is inspiring to read all of these stories of those who have overcome bullying in their lives. But we have a long way to go to help those in need learn how to protect themselves.
